03.00hrs

14 riders are in allready with scores more lining the motorway just a few miles away

some are in the Newcastle area only 1 1/2 hours away

At 3.30 Sue Merry reports she is in Edinburg and with 4/1/2 hours to go she and her merry gand should be good to finish. Outstanding ride

No idea where the two lady riders are on a Scooter and Harley Sportster, but at the start they both had a steely look of determination on their faces

The check in teams are going to be very busy in a very short while as day breaks on an outstannding effort by all involved in the Royl British Legion Riders 1000 mile event

the gate is closed, final tally to be done but some 170 riders have finished. Two ladies of note, one riding a scooter and one on a 883 sportster both finished

Final debrief is at 4pm to allow riders to relax and then free dinner and a well dezerved beer or three

Well done to all, some very happy faces there today

Excellent effort by all and I was sorry to read about DNF but that is all part of what makes it an event of note, you just never know when you start that engine if you are going to make it.

Wish I could have made this one but I was on another charity ride and spreading the good name of the Iron Butt UK while doing so. XRV Longest Day did bag over £6000 for the Make a Wish folks.

Am glad that everyone ended the ride safe and well and just as important, got enough rest at the end for that safe ride home.

Very well done

James691

Just got home from the RBLR 1000. I woke up this morning to fine weather and thought why not stick another 500 on today to make it a BB1500. I hope to have done that with a little loop up to the lakes and Northumbria before heading home. Let's see what the paperwork says. I found out that there are things that niggle you after 1000 miles that you can ignore in just one day. Got a list of things I need to sort before I think about a SS2000 - the least of which is a bit more control over route and timings.

A cracking day. I rode mostly on my own but did Redruth to Exeter with a couple of others - one of which was the lady on the "scooter". The "scooter" is a Gilera 800cc V-twin (Aprilla engined from the Mana) with a steel trelis frame which gave quite a few car drivers a shock away from the lights.

Glad I went. Met some great people and all for a great cause.
