I'm riding in the Not Superman Rally starting Monday, 7/23 at 0600 CDT.  This 4.5 day rally will provide me lots of practice all on the clock.  The rally master encourages riders to share their live SpotWalla Map during the rally.  My blog site, below, carries my NSR post with imbedded map along with particulars about the rally.

This endurance event is a great opportunity for me to hone on the clock skills and techniques.  Also, since the NSR requires lots of Spot markers and active tracking it gives me a great opportunity to compare how the Spot data compares to my rally book log data.  I will be diligent in applying the Spot OK or Custom button at each requires point along my routes.

The rally also requires 6 hour rest periods each 24 hours starting with the first day.  The last day rest period is a minimum 4 hours with 500 points for over 5 hours and an additional 500 points for over 6 hours.  I plan on take each 6 hour rest period.  But it is nice to know I have an extra 2 cushion on the last day if necessary to get to the checkpoint on time.

I have selected published bonus routes and with the connecting routes total around 3,970 miles with over 50 bonus or mandatory picture sites.  The value on the bonus routes and stops I have plotted out total almost 33,000 points.  I have timed out the routes and stops using my MS Excel route planning tool and it seems to work out.  It will be fun to analyze the planned vs actual data.  I'll share my results and lessons learned with an after action report.  Baring any riding or scoring table issues I hope to have a safe and fun training event.

I am looking forward to your after-action report as I have
enjoyed your previous ones.

Please be safe and good luck. Bring home something good
back to the Lone Star State.

Good luck and have fun on the NSR Tim.

I'll be poring over your analysis of your Excel planning tool - even though it
blows my mind whenever I look at your stuff.

The Rally Master send out the official standing this morning.

I finished in 4th place with 33,300 points.  Special thanks to Howard Entman, , my rally mentor.

I'm doing the after action report now and will post it on my blog when completed.

Well done on getting 4th place. Did you have many points to the top finisher or was it a close one?

Sounded like you planned your ride and rode your plan. Well done!

Jim Plunkett, the Rally Master, will probably post the official results on NSR web site soon.  I missed catching the last ferry to Mackinac Island which cost me the 1,000 point Arch Rock....big rock....bonus.

Top Scores:

1.  34,500
2.  34,300
3.  33,700
4.  33,300
5.  33,000

OK Gang,

I've prepared a ride report with supporting data.  You can see it here:  After Action Report - Not Superman Rally.  The blog posting has the MapSource route, waypoints and after the ride track.  A MS Excel workbook contains all the data as well as the NSR all rider scorecard from the Rally Master, Jim Plunkett.

I'd appreciate scathing critique from all competitive rally riders.  Remember, I'm a rookie at this stuff and don't have much competitive rally time. So, hit me with you best shot.
