Fran Crane - Endurance Rider Iron Butt Association

Fran Crane Memorial

While Fran has long been acknowledged as one of the greatest long distance riders of the 20th century, her intense drive to excel did not stop when she got off her motorcycle. The same physical and mental strength she used to inspire countless motorcycle riders also infected people at the University of California in Santa Cruz where she worked for over twenty years.

In recognition of the many years of service working for the University and her ability to influence so many of it's members, the University placed a memorial on the campus near the Carriage House in memory of Fran. Although many different options were discussed, a rock was chosen to represent the solid character that Fran is. Nothing could be more fitting.

For those wishing to contribute to the memory of Fran Crane, the Iron Butt Association asks that donations be sent to:

Fran Crane Memorial
University Relations
Attention Donor Services
Carriage House
University of California, Santa Cruz
1156 High Street
Santa Cruz, CA. 95064

Please make your check payable to UC regents, with the memo section noting the check is for the Fran Crane Memorial.

Thank you for any contribution you are able to give for this fitting memorial to truly one of the most inspirational people I have been lucky enough to know.
